Prelim Task (Found) Evaluation

Evaluation

On our prelim task we got a lot of mixed feedback. On the whole the opening scene got good feedback in terms of shots and editing. The reason we think this was is because we spent a lot of time planning the best angles we could use for each shot and planned the locations well. The only shot that we felt we could of done better is the shot were the main character goes up the stairs. This was picked up on by the majority of people that reviewed our prelim task so if we were to do it again we would make sure that shot was perfect.
The editing of our prelim task was what made our opening scene a lot better. The reason for this is because the shots we had flowed well together and the editing helped them even better as we used specific editing techniques and transitions. If we were to edit it again we would add better titles as in ours there were not as many as we wanted and we felt that it took away from the overall feel of the prelim task.
The main problem we had whilst making the prelim task was choosing a good song for the opening piece. The reason this was hard was because everyone had a contrasting idea of what song to use. In the end we picked 5songs and put each one with the shots we got. From there we decided the best one we felt for the prelim task and in the end we felt that the song we chose fitted very well. The reason we thought this was because the song we used is by and artist who's music is commonly used in our genre of film. I don't think if we did it again we would change the music as the music fitted really well for what we wanted.
Another shot we got a lot of feedback from was the one were they are sitting down as a family. This shot was filmed in an open room and didn't really feel like it was in a house (this is what it was meant to do). The majority of people said that if it was recorded in an actual house then it would have made the shot better. Unfortunately we couldn't use a house so were we filmed it was the second best place. If we decided to do it again we would use a proper living room.
One of the things everyone liked was the part right at the end when it ends on a cliff hanger. The reason  they liked this is because it made them want to keep watching and watch more. This is why we think people chose to buy rights to our film.
Overall there would be many things that we would change with our prelim task as we all felt it could have been produced better and the overall out come could have been a lot better.

Feedback

The main thing I found with our feedback is that everyone was unclear about the enigma code. The majority of people left the box blank or didnt actually know what it was. Next time we do this we need to make sure that the engima code is clear so that the audience knows what it is.

Out of all of the feedback the best part of it was the Name of the film and the cast section. Both of these where highly praised in our feedback and the majority of people rated them both very highly. This shows that our film was appealing because everyone like the title which would make people remember the film and the cast made people excited about the film.

The section "is the film different?" Had mixed reviews most people didnt really know what to think of it. Some people thought that it was a good idea and liked it but other thought that it reminded them of a couple of other films. This may make us want to change the theme slightly because people may get bored watching it. This wouldnt be good in the long run because no one will want to watch it and it will no make any money.

Overall the film went down well and most people decided that they would buy the film rights if they could. This is encouraging because it shows that our film would have been a success if it was all put together.

Mise en Scene

Mise en Scene

Analysing the Dark Knight Interigation scene.

Costume
Both the charecters costumes in this scene represent that charecters very well. The joker is wearing his scruffy purple suit showing the he is abit edgey about everything and you never know what he is going to do because he is on the edge all the time.

Lighting
At the start of the scene everything is in darkness and all you can see is the Jokers face. When the Batman enters the room the lights turn on and its is very moody light. This again shows that not everything is alright and everything seems to be a lighten on edge and the lighting presents it very well.
Actors
The two actors used in this scene plays the parts very well. The Joker play his part extremely well by fighting in a very wierd way when he is fighting batman. Having bad posture and also talking and pulling wierd facial expressions. Batman on the other hand stands tall over everyone and shows that he is in charge in the situation. He fights in a very good way and controls the Joker like a child which is wierd because the Joker doesnt ever react in the way you think he will. Having said this the Joker is played in such a way you never know how he is going to react.
Make up
The main make up in this scene would be the Jokers. In this scene his make up looks to be done badly and has looked like it has ran down his face a few times. As the fight scene progresses the make up gets worse and worse. This is a good use of make up because it makes the scene seem more legit and makes it feel like it means alot more than it does. The reason for this is that the make up says alot about the Jokers whole charecter and how he is alway on edge and the make up just sums everything up.
Props
The main prop in the scene is the table and the chairs the Joker and Batman are sitting down. This plays a big part in the scene because it is used alot in the fight for the Batman to gain power over the Joker. When the Batman comes in he wedges a chair against the door so no one can get in. This shows the authority Batman has in this scene.
Settings
The small room this is set in is a good choice for the scene. The reason for this is that there are two massive charecter in one room and you just know that something is about to happen. You get this feeling all the way through the scene that something is on edge until the fight. When the fight happens the room gets this sudden largest. This is down to the way the film is shot.

Production Company Logo

Production Company

This is the design for my film company logo. The reason i choose this as my logo was because a pyramid is an icon logo that will stand out much like the 20th century fox logo. The fact that it shines through the dark background makes it stand out and catch the eye of people.

The reason that i made it the pyramid was it doesnt tie down the production company to a certain genre of film. The pyramid could have multiple meanings so you could assosiate it with a historical film, but i can also go with an action film as there are not many genres this cannot go with which is a good thing.

The main insperation for this logo was the 20th century fox logo as that is an iconic logo that everyone knows and recogonises.

Group Photo Analysis

These photos where taken as part of a group that was set a specific genre and we had to take photos with in this genre. Our groups genre was a teen film, for pre teens. The problem with this is the genres don't work together because they are completely different to each other. Eventually we came up with some ideas as what to take pictures of and came up with these three pictures. These pictures where carefully planned out so that they all made sense for example the first picture you see had all three people jumping at the same time to show that they where happy about something.

Juno opening scene

The opening scene to Juno
To make this scene me and beth worked very well with each other. We planned every shot very well and stuck to the story board.Sticking to our storyboard helped us get better shots as we knew exactly what we need to shoot and for how long it had to be recorded. When it came to editing the shots i did the first half of the editing and beth did the other half to we both got to learn how to edit.

There where I few things that we could have inmproved on whilst filming this and they are as follows. The first thing that could have been improved where the black boxes either side of the screen in a few shots. The reasons these where there was because the camera got held the wrong way round whilst recording this and we did not realise that there was no way of editing them out. This would be something to change next time as it make the overall quality of the video look worse. The other thing that I would change would be to take more time choosing where a shot was going to be filmed. The reason for this was that some places don't look to good or do not go well with each which again makes the overall quality of the video worse.

Overall the making of this video has been very enjoyable and I have learnt a lot about how to make a successful video.
