Film Poster Analysis

Hunger Games Poster

At first look you can straight away tell that the poster is showing of an action based film. You can tell this by the look the character has got on her face whilst she is holding the bow. The fact the bow is pointing straight at us shows that things are on edge, its also like this to grab your attention straight away. The reason for this is our eyes are straight away attracted to the center of the page (in this case the girls face). The look on her face is very serious and looks like she is looking directly at you. This as well as the bow aiming at us grabs attention straight away. In terms of a poster this is great because it straight away grabs the attention and makes you want to learn more about the film.

Once you have noticed her face your eyes get drawn to the "hunger games" title and the fiery crest behind it. This is what "seals the deal" in term of it being an action film. The reason for this is because you wouldn't expect to see a fiery crest in any other genre of film really apart from action. This is why the crest is so important because possibly without it the film could look like a completely different genre. The crest also set the color for the whole poster. The crest is orange and the characters hand, shown behind the crest, is orange is well. This orange slowly fades out across the poster but the effect is still there showing that this will be an action film. Also the color of orange is usually associated with things like fire and danger. This is why the crest if on fire and also could be the reason she is point the bow at us as oppose to another angle.
